What is LiVE ?
LiVE 是什么？
LiVE is an online learning platform providing a collection of information literacy tutorials to help you develop the skills necessary to find information in any format and to evaluate it critically. LiVE also offers you knowledge of referencing and publishing for your researches.
LiVE是图书馆自制的一个在线学习平台。它教你如何检索有用信息，正确评估资源和引用等等。

Enter into the Library homepage: https://lib.xjtlu.edu.cn and click 'Online Learning @LiVE'. Or you can visit the LiVE's website: https://vle.xjtlu.edu.cn/live/.
进入图书馆主页，点击左边框里的LiVE链接。或者直接进入LiVE网站（https://vle.xjtlu.edu.cn/live/）。

Developing a Topic
Choosing your topic is the first step in the research process.
In this lesson, you will learn how to:
Choose a research topic;
Broaden or narrow down this research topic according to the corresponding situation;
Know the relationship between a research topic and a research question;
Know about research question and its significance;
Identify types of research questions;
Evaluate research questions.

Information Sources and Searching
The selection of appropriate information sources can be a good start for your research.
After you complete this Module, you should be able to:
Identify a variety of information sources which are sorted by publication types;
Identify information sources which are classified by originality;
Understand steps to perform an effective search;
Combine search terms effectively using several searching techniques.

Library Resources and Search Tools
Explore the XJTLU Library and its resources.
Come and learn this lesson, you will learn how to:
Understand the characteristics of library resources;
Understand the characteristics of information on the Internet;
Know how to access Library on-campus and off-campus;
Use Discover (find, search and download) Use Catalogue (OPAC) (find, search and download) and know other functions;
Use Library Databases (find, search and download);
Understand different types of databases;
Identify recommended useful websites;
Know Open Access resources.

Information Evaluation
Always be critical when you read other people's ideas.
After you complete this Module, you should be able to:
Know general criteria for information evaluation.
Understand how to evaluate information by checking Authority, Currency, Objectivity, Relevance and Quality;
Understand how to evaluate website information.

Citing Information
When you borrow someone else’s words or ideas WITHOUT REFERENCING, it is PLAGIARISM.
Come and learn this lesson, you will learn how to:
Identify common types of plagiarism;
Understand which kind of sources need referencing to avoid plagiarism;
Identify different types of referencing styles and select the appropriate ones;
Put references into your papers properly;
Use referencing software to create effective workflow.
In future, some research-led tutorials will be published to help you learn about selecting an appropriate journal for your manuscript and knowledge about copyright, intellectual property and scholarly communication technologies.
